Nadejda Vlaeva A Treasury of Russian Romantic Piano Reviews: Gramophone (click on review to enlarge) This is an astutely chosen programme that bears repeated listening, expertly recorded and with some truly inspired playing. I look forward eagerly to Nadejda Vlaeva's next disc. Clavier Companion (click on review to enlarge) Bulgarian-born pianist Nadejda Vlaeva's recent CD release featuring music by Russian Romantic composers is truly a musical celebration. Ms. Vlaeva's playing is exquisite! American Record Guide (click on review to enlarge) These knockout performances, recorded in 2007, took me by surprise...one could not have more persuasive performances...Vlaeva is up to every challenge...She is clearly a rising star in the piano world. International Record Review (click on review to enlarge) In toto, this is an attractive, extremely well-played programme, superbly recorded MusicWeb International Highly gifted … exquisite playing and a boldly sweeping Bortkiewicz sonata International Piano (click on review to enlarge) Indeed so well contrasted is Nadejda Vlaeva's programme, and so unfailingly sypathetic and musical is her playing of what is in effect a series of attractive encores, that I was able to listen to the rest of the disc without tiring of these pianistic bon-bons. BBC Music Magazine It is played with consummate style and flair by Nadejda Vlaeva, whose previous recordings of Liszt and Chopin I have greatly admired. "…this pianist’s Liszt recital on MSR Classics, one of the best I’ve heard in recent years.”
“ The concert etude Un Sospiro (A Sigh)…to my knowledge never performed better than Vlaeva does it here.”
“ With her virtuosic technique allied to a true poetic sensitivity, she does full justice to a composer whose music other have exploited too often for its blood and thunder qualities.” "[Vlaeva]
displays a command of the Lisztian
manner gifted to just the few." "Poetry,
beauty of sound and a singing line
are her chief concerns...The Rigoletto
paraphrase...illustrates her lyrical
poise and musical refinement, as
well as a gorgeous tonal palette...One
of the features that marks out Vlaeva
as a natural poet of the piano is
her exquisite sense of timing, her
ability to shape a phrase with just
the right degree of temporal inflexion..."
"...one of
the most stylish and stunning debuts ever!" Recording contents: 1. Les Cloches de Genève (S. 160, no. 9) 5:31 (Années de pèlerinage, Book I, Suisse) 2.
